The gospel

Jesus Christ died for sinners, was buried, and rose again. That is the heart of the gospel.

What is the gospel?

The word gospel means good news. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 the apostle Paul summarizes that news: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.

The person and work of Jesus Christ stand at the center of the gospel. Without the crucified and risen Christ, there is no gospel.

This good news is biblical, saving, and historical. If Christ had not truly died for sinners and risen bodily, there would be no hope.

Kapitel 03

God as Creator

The triune God is the Creator of all things. He made us so that we might live in fellowship with him, in obedience to him, and for his glory.

Kapitel 04

Humanity as sinful

Since the fall, human beings no longer live under God’s good rule but in rebellion against him. Therefore we stand under God’s righteous wrath and cannot save ourselves.

Kapitel 05

Jesus as Savior

In Jesus Christ, the eternal God became man. He lived in perfect obedience, died as a substitute on the cross, bore the punishment for sin, and reconciled believers to God. By his resurrection he conquered death and Satan.

Kapitel 06

Faith as response

This message becomes good news for people when they repent, turn from their rebellion against God, receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and follow him.

The gospel was witnessed by the apostles and must be personally embraced in faith. No one is saved by background, works, or religious habit.
